Quinny Ou
Flute
Quinny Ou is a flutist and educator based in the Atlanta area. He holds a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Northern Iowa and a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Penn State University. He is currently in the process of obtaining his doctorate degree from Florida State University.
As a performer, Quinny has appeared throughout North America, Europe, and South America. At age 19, he made his New York City solo debut at Merkin Hall in the Kaufman Music Center. He has performed internationally at festivals including the Arosa Music Festival in Switzerland and the CLAZZ Music Festival in Italy, Orchestra Tours in South America, and has performed at National Flute Association conventions. His orchestral experience includes serving as principal flute of the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra and performing with the Florida State University Wind Symphony. Quinny has played in masterclasses for renown flutists such as: William Bennett, Robert Langevin, Ian Clarke, Bonita Boyd, Paul Edmund-Davies and Jim Walker.
Quinny has over ten years of teaching experience and has worked with students in private studios, university settings, and summer music programs. His students have achieved success in All-State ensembles, college admissions, and regional competitions. He has also served as a competition judge for the National Flute Association, Florida Flute Association and other regional events.
His primary teachers include Eva Amsler, Karen Large, Angeleita Floyd, and Naomi Seidman. Quinny is an active member of the National Flute Association and the Atlanta Flute Club.
