Dr. Molly Schneider
Violin
Dr. Molly Schneider is a violinist, educator, and scholar specializing in performance, pedagogy,
and ethnomusicology. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance with a minor in
Ethnomusicology from the University of Georgia, as well as degrees in performance from the
Hartt School of Music and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Dr. Schneider maintains an active and wide-ranging performing career as a solo, orchestral and
chamber musician, with international appearances and collaborations across diverse stylistic
traditions. She performs regularly with the Savannah Philharmonic, Augusta Symphony
Orchestra, and the Atlanta Contemporary Music Collective. Her early distinction as a soloist
includes her debut as the winner of the 2018 UMBC Concerto Competition, performing
Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. She has also participated in prestigious festivals including the
Tanglewood Institute, Credo Chamber Music Program, and Prague Summer Nights.
An avid chamber musician and advocate for innovative programming with community
engagement, Dr. Schneider is the curator and featured violinist of the Spirited Sounds Concert
Series, an initiative dedicated to creating accessibility to high level performances of both
Western classical and cross-cultural repertoire. Her performance work is complemented by
research on global violin practices, including her publication The Art of Violin in Arab and
Chinese Musical Cultures (2024).
As an educator, Dr. Schneider integrates her extensive performance experience into a
pedagogical approach that emphasizes technical mastery, stylistic fluency, and global musical
awareness, with teaching experience spanning university instruction, community music
programs, and chamber music coaching.
